From Maria — Care Enough to Organize
Are people you know watching NBA trades or Beyonce ticket news, but not talking about unions in sports or how the Ticketmaster monopoly is capitalism? And so many people don’t watch the State of the Union address, or read about it — but the landlords and the bosses do.
How do we deal with people’s need to escape the daily grind and their frustration with formal politics? We know the Warren Buffetts and the war profiteers watch with an eagle eye and pour their cash into politics, so it’s too important to ignore.
The socialist solution is to organize. Power comes from organized money, but it also comes from organized people. We have a long way to go to build the mass movement we need, but DSA chapters across the country are talking to their neighbors and coworkers and waging fights that help us build unity and feel our collective power. Every win, whether in a workplace, a neighborhood, or a policy vote, gives us hope, and every time we do it together we undermine the loneliness and isolation of life under capitalism.
Throughout the month of February we’re asking new people to join DSA. Who are three people you know who are pissed at the state of the world and care enough to do something about it? Look at your calendar, pick a date, and make the ask! Here’s the join link to share.

Maximize your chapter’s voice at convention by participating in DSA’s February Membership Drive! As we head towards the apportionment process this March, February is a great time to ask folks to join, renew, and get involved in organizing. Here are three ways you can participate:
- Turn a friend or coworker into a comrade! Ask three people to join DSA this month and keep our multiracial working class movement growing
- Renew your membership (if you’re not a member in good standing) or switch to monthly income-based dues
- Sign up for coaching hours to learn how you can support a membership push in your chapter

Apply to the National Political Committee — Deadline Thursday 2/23
Through Article VIII, Section II of the DSA National Constitution, the National Political Committee (NPC) is charged with appointing members of the organization to fill vacancies on the NPC. To that end, we are opening applications up to all members of DSA in good standing.
Since NPC duties are significant, we recommend that anyone who considers applying first review this overview of NPC Member Duties and Responsibilities. We want to stress that this is not a role for members who have not held prior leadership positions in DSA, their union, or other grassroots organizations. If you think you would be a good fit for the NPC, send your application to us through this form by 11:59 PST on Thursday 2/23.
Reinvigorate Reproductive Rights Fight with the Socialist Feminist Working Group
Last month, the DSA Socialist Feminist Working Group held a “The Future of Reproductive Justice” panel and screening event to mark the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. We appreciate everyone who joined us to discuss reinvigorating the fight to protect abortion! If you missed the panel discussion, you can watch it here.
Whether you joined us for the event, or are just hearing about it, you can join the DSA Socialist Feminist Working Group in the fight for reproductive justice by supporting abortion funds today! Donations will cover the DSA Socialist Feminist Working Group’s screening license costs for Never, Rarely, Sometimes, Always, and will also be split between the Wild Wild West Fund of Nevada (WWAF), the Texas Equal Access (TEA) Fund, and the New York Abortion Access Fund (NYAAF).
