DSA locals have been doing LGBTQ rights activism on an ongoing basis, from pride marches in Atlanta to protests against anti-transgender bathroom bills in Oklahoma. Lately this has been getting more press attention.
As our national LGBTQ Working Group gets into gear, we’re proud to see DSA activists’ work in the press. New DSA member Trevor Hill is being hailed as a gay socialist hero for challenging Nancy Pelosi at a CNN Town Hall. You can watch DSA’s Bianca Cunningham video interview with Trevor here. And in Austin, Texas, the local DSA chapter has formed the ATX DSA Queer Coalition. They’re speaking out against anti-LGBTQ legislation, violence, and hate speech in their community. You can read more about their work here in the Austin Chronicle. We’re proud of their work.
