From the National Political Committee — Unite! Organize! Win!
Dear comrades,
Last week, hundreds of us gathered in Chicago for our first ever joint spring conference, where members of DSA and YDSA came together to discuss and plan the course of our work on various terrains of struggle. We spent three days taking seriously the task of strategizing and organizing toward future victories. As we face the intersection of countless crises, we know we can’t yield the future without a fight. That said, we must prepare and plan because our fight is long, so it’s important that our work is steady. To that end, the NPC voted during our April quarterly meeting to make the Strike Ready campaign our top national priority.
DSA is proud to stand with labor — on the cusp of what could be the largest strike in decades — and we intend to meet this moment with solidarity. We are calling on every single one of our members to mobilize in support of this contract fight. So if UPS decides to force a strike by not giving every worker their share in the profits they’ve created, we will be there to help every Teamster hold the line. We know which side we’re on. And as one of the most visible and recognizable workforces in this country, the Teamsters have the power to bring the billionaire bosses to their knees — not just for themselves, but to show every worker how to fight for what they deserve, in this fight and for future fights.
As DSA prepares to support this important labor fight, we also continue to plan for our upcoming Convention. We are happy to announce this year’s theme: Unite! Organize! Win! Thank you to everyone who submitted their ideas, visuals, and suggestions. The winning theme was born out of a combination of submissions, with the grounding notion that our task as socialists requires unity, organization, and a plan to win. To that end, we are also sharing our finalized Pre-Convention Discussion Guide. Please use this discussion guide to prepare for Convention and the adoption of DSA’s national strategic direction for the next two years — one rooted in a firm analysis of how to best organize our class toward the advancement of socialism in the current moment. We also encourage you to run for NPC or delegate in your chapter and to read through our Convention hub for updates and important information.
The Convention is an instrumental moment in the continuation of our organization, and we know a stronger DSA puts us in the best position to wage the external fights necessary to win the world we deserve. We’ve supported workers on the picket lines, in their workplaces, and on campuses across the country. We’ve made electoral gains all over, with hundreds of democratic socialists sitting in various levels of office. It’s both liberating and necessary to do this work alongside comrades, so may the work we’ve done together as DSA keep hope at the forefront for our long fight ahead.

FYI — Chapter Survey
The deadline for the 2023 Chapter Survey is fast approaching! Your chapter has received the link to the survey via email and the April District Calls. Chapter leaders’ reflections, lessons and organizing experiences from the past year will help the DSA Growth and Development Committee identify new trainings and resources to build, and existing chapter resources that can be shared with others. The deadline for chapter leaders to submit the survey is Monday 5/1. All participating chapters will enter a raffle to win chapter prizes (a personalized banner, a tabling kit, or a direct action kit).
