Dolores Huerta, DSA Member

Active organizing for democracy is needed now more than ever. For this to succeed, both working and poor people--who are the majority--have to have a voice. DSA is one of those voices.

—Dolores Huerta

The Democratic Socialists of America DSA congratulates our honorary chair Dolores Huerta for being awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Since her founding along with Cesar Chaves, and many others, of the United Farm Workers (UFW) union, through her current work in support of civic engagement and empowerment of women and youth in disadvantaged communities, Huerta's influence has been profound.  She served as honorary chair of DSA until this position was abolished at the 2017 convention.
