Kissinger Makes it to 100, Unlike His Millions of Victims

On June 5, 2023, the New York Public Library hosted a gala to honor the 100th birthday of Henry Kissinger. Guests included Anthony Blinken, the current U.S. Secretary of State, and other Democratic notables (e.g. economist Larry Summers.) On the Twitter thread linked to above, many linked to the words of Anthony Bourdain, who wrote “Once you’ve been to Cambodia, you’ll never stop wanting to beat Henry Kissinger to death with your bare hands.” Kissinger’s 100th birthday has sparked some notable journalism, like Nick Turse’s reporting from Cambodia and Slate’s timeline of the former Secretary’s horrific legacy.
