The devastating earthquake that hit
Port-au-Prince, Haiti has dominated the news media for the last few
days. Many reports claim that poor living conditions in the city
compounded the earthquake's damage. However, few outlets have reported on
the story behind these poor conditions. Check out Carl Lindskoog's

Sign the Petition to
Grant Haitian Refugees Temporary
Protected Status and to Free Jean Montrevil
As it stands, Obama is set to carry out the Bush policy of
deporting 30,000 Haitian Refugees. Sign the Petition here
to demand that that the President not exacerbate Haiti's monumental problems and
instead grant the refugees Temporary Protected Status. You can also sign
the petition
to free Jean Montrevil, a Haitian Immigrant who is now being detained and is
scheduled to be deported for a crime he committed 20 years ago for which he
already served his sentence.
