Combating Anti-Immigrants While Preserving Our Values
A YDSer's Critique of Racists and Undemocratic Actions Against Immigrants
YDS is a proud supporter of the immigrant rights movement. As allies, we respect the views and wishes of the communities with which we work with for social justice. YDS member Anthony Schull?s provocative piece, Immigration Protest in Morristown, illustrates his belief that our work against anti-immigrant xenophobia must be democratic and community based. You can respond to Anthony?s piece here.

Bernie Sanders Stands Alone Against Bush's Economic Henchmen
Sen. Sanders to Hold Bush's Nominee for Office of Management and Budget
Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) will attempt to hold the Bush nomination of Jim Nussle for director of the Office of Management and Budget ? until the president acknowledges that the economy is hurting poor people? according to American Prospect. Sanders, a democratic socialist, counters the Bush administration?s rosy view of the economy by pointing to increased poverty and opinion polls showing rising concern for the state of our economy. Sander?s actions show the importance of having progressive elected to office even while their views are still not mainstream.
Sen. Sanders will speak at the Democratic Socialists of America convention this November 9th in Atlanta, Georgia. DSA is YDS?s parent organization and every YDSer is an automatic DSA member.
