Urgent: Sign the Petition Protesting Wal-Mart's Anti-Union Tactics.

From DSA-News, February 13, 2005

A few years ago in Texas a group of meatcutters voted to join the UFCW and Wal-Mart responded by closing every one of their meatcutting department in the state.

Earlier this year Wal-Mart workers at a store in Quebec had their union election certified by the Canadian government. Last week Wal-Mart announced they were closing the store--just days after their multi million dollar advertising campaign touting themselves as good employers.

This decision was designed to punish the workers in Quebec, and intimidate other Canadian employees that are trying to organize. It was also desgned to intimidate Americans workers in a single Automotive department that are scheduled to vote on a union on Feb. 25th.

You can tell Wal-Mart that they are wrong and must reverse their decision by signing an electronic petition being circulated by the AFL-CIO. I have already done so and urge every DSA'er to sign on!
