In response to Mr Cobb - Michael Harrington came to socialism from the Catholic Worker Movement, Martin Luther King Jr. was a Christian Socialist, the British Labour Party was more influenced by Methodist Social Gospel than Marx, and, my own favorite, R H Tawney, came to socialism because he was a devout Anglican. To separate Socialism from spirituality would deny many, many people productive participation in the socialist movement.
